Questions on Caregivers and Background checks

Are caregivers employees or contractors?
All caregivers are W-2 employees, not contractors. This ensures accountability, consistent training, supervision, and compliance with Indiana HCBS and labor regulations.

Do you perform background checks, fingerprinting, and drug testing?
Yes. We conduct comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, drug screening, reference verification, and work history checks before any caregiver is assigned to a client.

Are caregivers trained in CPR, First Aid, and infection control?
Yes. All Hoosier Care Giverscaregivers maintain CPR & First Aid certification, and receive mandatory infection control, HIPAA, safety, and abuse prevention training.

Yes. Families may request a meet-and-greet prior to starting services.

Will the same caregiver come consistently?
Yes, we prioritize continuity of care. The same caregiver or small team of caregivers will be scheduled consistently.

What happens if my parents are uncomfortable with the caregiver?
We will immediately assign a different caregiver with no penalties or delays. Client comfort and safety always come first.

Are you licensed, bonded, and insured and how long have you been in business

Yes. Hoosier Care Givers is fully licensed, bonded, and insured to operate as a Home- and Community-Based Services (HCBS) and Personal Care provider in Indiana. We meet all state and federal compliance requirements.

Yes. Each client receives a customized person-centered care plan developed in collaboration with the client, family, supervisor, and, as needed, clinical oversight.

How often is the care plan updated?
Care plans are reviewed every 90 days or sooner if there is a change in condition or family request.

How do you communicate concerns or changes with family members?
We maintain clear communication through:

How is care documented daily?
Caregivers complete daily electronic or paper visit notes, including tasks performed, observations, and any changes in client condition.

No. Hoosier Care Givers operates with flexible, no long-term binding contracts. Services can be adjusted or paused at any time.

How often do you bill?
We bill weekly or bi-weekly, depending on client preference.
